A free online conference for men in the Midlands and further afield.

In light of the events of the past few months, we have chosen to postpone our planned men’s convention ‘Making a Difference – Godly Men in a Godless World’ until 2021. Instead, we have planned an excellent morning of Bible teaching online, where John Stevens, FIEC National Director, will help us hear what God has to say to us in times like these.  This will take place on the same date as the original convention – Saturday 7th November 2020.

This is a free online event, however you will need to register as we will send out details for accessing online content closer to the event.

speaker

John Stevens

John was born and raised in Birmingham and is the FIEC National Director. Alongside his FIEC responsibilities, he is one of the pastors of Christchurch Market Harborough and teaches on courses at Oak Hill Theological College, Edinburgh Theological Seminary, Union School of Theology and the Cornhill Training Course. He is married to Ursula and they have four children.

Session 1

Faithful Men in a Post-COVID Context

Looking at what it means to be biblical and godly men in the light of COVID. We all face changes to family life, church and work situations as well as learning about how to manage risk and hope. John will help us think about these from God’s Word.
Session 2

Faithful Men in a Woke Culture

Looking at being a man in a culture that increasingly critiques toxic masculinity. John will help us think through what it means to be men who respect women, resist racism, practice tolerance and yet who stand for the gospel and engage in evangelism.

Each session will involve a talk and an opportunity to ground and apply what we hear through small group discussions. We hope that by November delegates will be able to physically gather with others from their church, or local area, in small groups to watch the talk and have their own small group discussions together. Alternatively, where this is not possible, delegates will also be able to join centrally to watch the talks and be assigned to a virtual small group for discussion times.

We have decided to make the conference free so as many as possible are able to come to consider how we can respond biblically to the challenges and opportunities the pandemic presents. It will be possible to make a donation to the cost of hosting the conference during the registration process, if you would like to.

As always we want to include teenagers (14-18) in the day. It may be that youth leaders could arrange to get a group together to join. There will also be a central online youth discussion group led by members of the MGP Youth team. Please indicate during registration if you wish to join this.

Tick the ‘Going’ button and you’ll be able to enter your details and any additional delegates you wish to book for.
